Pollution Exposure and Risk Assessment

Marine, ground and surface waters pollution exposure and risk assessments represents important tools for IEC environmental assessment activities. Environmental Scientists at IEC have performed ecological, and human health risk assessment for pollutant materials entering the coastal zone, groundwater and surface inland waters for companies such as Shell, Department of Petroleum Resources, Chevron and Federal Ministry of Environment.

IEC have developed novel sampling designs and methods for assessing temporal and spatial exposure regimes in the marine environment, and combined these approaches with a broad knowledge of the scientific literature and regulatory approaches to conduct risk assessment. We also have used biological monitoring techniques including ecological, bio-accumulation and toxicological methods for assessing risk.

Members of IEC team have been active in helping government and industry develop approaches to water quality and sediment quality criteria.
